If you don't think you can get your tax return done by the due date, you can aoply for an extension on your tax return. The forms are different for corporate returns and for small business returns filed with your personal tax return.

IMPORTANT: Filing an extension application does not mean you can wait to pay your taxes. Federal income taxes still must be paid by the due date. You will need to estimate taxes due and make a payment by the tax due date (April 17 in 2012, for 2011 taxes), to avoid fines and penalties.
