I got my first bottle of CHI Infra Texture Dual Action Hair Spray with a product introduction kit that I bought in my salon. CHI happens to have a very vast line of hair sprays with hold that varies from this weird infra texture (whatever that means) to their Helmet Head Hair Spray that will truly protect your hair at speeds of at least 55 mph. I'm admittedly not an avid user of light holding or flexible hair sprays, so I shrugged it off.

I used it a couple of times and I found it useless. What was the point of this non-holding spray?

I gave the bottle to my low-maintenance sister. She loved it. What gives? She said it gave her soft un-styled hair enough weight to keep the fly-a-ways down, and it blocked humidity enough to keep her hair from frizzing out half way through a humid summer day. But it doesn't feel like hair spray, and that was a huge bonus in her world.

I decided the stuff had at least that much benefit, and kept a couple of bottles on my shelf for my lower maintenance clients that needed just a little something in a hair spray.

I honestly still had it in my head that this Infra Texture stuff was rather pointless. And then I took a CHI color class and learned a thing or two about this remarkable hair spray that would change my mind.

From Pointless to Must Have

During my class, the CHI instructor started spraying a models hair down with CHI Infra Structure Dual Action Hair Spray. She didn't stop spraying, quite literally, for probably 30 seconds or more.

If you've ever sprayed any hair spray on your hair for more than 10 seconds you already know what a sticky hard mess that can be. To my surprise, the instructor then brushed her hair.

She didn't wince, or even cry.

Okay, now you have my attention, but again, what was the point of emptying out half a bottle of hair spray on a models head and brush it out?

The point, I would learn is that this hair spray can be used, quite liberally, to give the hair texture, memory and flexible hold that helps keep your style in place without the sticky, flaky, hard mess of traditional hair sprays. Now, it's the kind of hair spray that I'd never be without at home or in the salon.

How to Use CHI Infra Texture Dual Action Hair Spray

I like to use CHI Infra Texture in two ways.

It's the most perfect foundation for waves or curls that you'll likely ever use. Spray your hair or sections of your hair before curling or waving. The formula will not cause your hair to become sticky and still allows your hot tools to glide through your hair easily. I'm really not sure how the product works, but some kind of magic in the formula bonds with your hot tools to hold a curl without making it feel like cardboard. I use CHI Infra texture on every curly style I create and love it for curls that eventually turn into updos. The soft curls are easier to work with.

If you're the kind of person that doesn't want to feel product in your hair but need something to keep the fly-a-ways at bay and your style touchably in place, CHI Infra Texture is a product to consider. The great thing is, you really can't use too much, and you get all the results of hair spray (like protection from humidity and frizz) without the feel of hair spray. It never flakes, never gets gunky, and never gets hard.

CHI Infra Texture Dual Action Hair Spray gives you beautifully soft lift, light touchable hold, and shine with the famous CHI fragrance.

What to Not Expect with CHI Infra Texture Hair Spray

As much as there is to rave about CHI Infra Texture, it's important to note that there are a lot of things that this hair spray won't do.
  • It won't hold your updo in place.
  • It won't hold a complicated hairstyle.
  • It won't spike your hair up.
  • It won't give you tons of volume.
  • It won't hold your pompadour in place.
