What Is Personal Development
What Is Personal Development
Most people would like to improve themselves but ask, what is personal development? In one way or another they seek, but often do not find. Personal development is basically is articulated by the endeavor of the evolution of oneself psychologically, emotionally and spiritually.
It is certainly a process which is dependent upon the individual focus in dictating rate of development. I would like to share some of the impediments in this blog to set as red flags to be acutely aware of.
What Is Personal Development- Obstacles
Many are held back by invisible forces. Learn to recognize these obstacles in order to overcome them and reach your all-important goals in personal development.
Family Ties
Although most people associate things like post-traumatic-stress syndrome with war and other violent events, growing up in a dysfunctional family can lead to a life of PTSD. Failure to acknowledge and treat the damage from childhood is one of the leading obstacles to personal development. Unhealed wounds haunt the present and dysfunctional habits die hard. Seek counseling, even short-term, or a support group to help you put your past in its place.
Toxic Relationships
Negative people who bring you down should be eliminated from your life if you are serious about answering your self question, what is personal development. Say goodbye to people who are miserable; misery loves company and you'd rather support your positive changes by surrounding yourself with empowered and progressive people. Spend some time alone if necessary, in order to understand what you need from people and what to give them to foster healthy and productive relationships.
Time
Most people mismanage time, and if you add up what is lost on a daily basis, it equals years over the course of a lifetime! Take ten minutes before work to sit, think and organize so that the time in your day will serve your purposes better. Plan more carefully, eliminate waste and be efficient in your use of time: it's the most valuable commodity you have.
Use of Substances
Although much fun and relaxation can be had by the afternoon or after work cocktail, things like alcohol are more conducive to stagnation and repetition than achievement. It may relieve tension or stress; most people who languish in substances find themselves reaching more for the next drink than the next goal. Prioritize your personal development above and beyond the instant gratification offered by substances.
Procrastination
Plain and simple, the phrase "live like you are dying" is the best philosophy to live by. When we are in the habit of putting things off until tomorrow, they forever go unaccomplished. Learn to seize the day by reaching small milestones that add up to better habits and higher productivity. Each day, get something valuable off of your personal development to do list, or do something to get you that much closer to it.
Fear
Even fear of success exists in the complex and misunderstood human mind. Fear of change, commitment or failure may be keeping you from reaching your personal development goals. Conduct an in-depth self-analysis or employ another method of discovery in order to find out what fears deep inside you are preventing you from becoming the person you want to be.
We need to be aware of the obstacles stated in this article. Ignorance can hold us up in many ways, but once we recognize and address the issues we can get down to the business of improving ourselves and our lives in the most fulfilling and enriching ways! Hopefully, this article has opened a few doors for you and prepped you to be more capable of attaining your goals and enabling you to push aside the impediments to answer the question, what is personal development?
