Part II: The New Poster Child for 24 Hour Recovery

105 14
I finally decided that if others could do this 24 hour recovery, I could too. I'm happy to answer any questions from ladies considering this type of surgery.

A couple of things I want to pass a long if you're having surgery soon: After surgery, my mouth and throat were so dry, I don't think I could have eaten crackers. Make sure and have some soup and 7-Up to go along with them! Another minor side effect of surgery can be urinary retention. That first day, I "felt like" I had to go to the bathroom about every 15 minutes! A little warm water down below does wonders!!
Thank you again, ladies, and my very best to you!! It's great to be home!

My Response ~

Wow - what an amazing account of recovery!  I am so proud of you!

Ladies, this is the very same patient that after a patient ed consult over a year ago, I was worried that she did not have what it would take to participate in 24 Hour Recovery and basically - on this forum - turned her down as a patient and encouraged her to think very carefully about having a breast augmentation and to be sure she was willing to do her part in the research, planning and recovery process. I just did not think she was prepared or had the confidence in her decisions to go through our 24 Hour Recovery program. And if the patient is not prepared and ready, it can be a really bad experience.

I preach about 24 Hour Recovery all the time, but, it's not the right experience for all patients. 24 Hour Recovery is designed and best suits someone who really doesn't want to have down time - who is a Type A type personality - who wants to actively participate in her recovery, doesn't want to hurt, improve her long term outcomes and who wants to have a BA for herself but doesn't necesarily want to draw attention to her person decision.

But as you can see by her post - she did GREAT!! She had the confidence and reassurance to follow the simple steps of 24 Hour and is now living proof that it can be done! Great job - you and your hubby are wonderful patients - living testament to the power of teamwork! Thank you for hanging in there and helping us do this at the right time for all of us!
