Foods to Ease Gout Pain
- Cherries are excellent for easing gout pain because they contain anti-inflamatory properties and can help lower the uric acid level in the blood. Cherries are beneficial when eaten in any form.
- Many people believe that celery can lower the level of uric acid in the blood. Celery can also be taken in the form of a tea, capsule or juice.
- Apple cider vinegar allows the uric acid to be excreted from the body. Drink 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar mixed with raw honey in a glass of water with meals (see Reference 2).
- Foods rich in potassium help the body excrete uric acid and will alleviate symptoms of gout. Examples of potassium-rich foods include bananas, avocado, and potatoes with skin.
- Vitamin B5 is essential to preventing excessive uric acid buildup. Foods high in B5 are nuts, yogurt and meat.
