Anyone looking Pilates Yoga mats will probably have a harder time than imagined.
That's because there's simply so many different kinds available.
There will always be that wanting to get only the best type there is, and that makes the shopping even more complicated.
You'll probably hop from one store to the next and from one good mat tip to another while making sure you actually get the one that will be most useful.
Of course, cost is another dimension to the whole hullabaloo.
Maybe there will be other considerations such as how thick the mat should be or what material it must be made of.
Fortunately, there will be but a few things to keep in mind while hunting down that mat for you.
If you're keen on making yourself better with Pilates, then you have to be keen on the mat you're going to use because it's definitely going to affect how you'll end up with the program.
In other words, don't settle for less.
Not just because a mat is cheap doesn't mean it can be good for you.
Chances are, cheap mats will give in after a day or two of use.
Besides, you're not going to like how it's going to look by that time.
It will probably even reek of certain chemicals and it wouldn't be pretty inhaling them during those deep-breathing routines.
Basically, what you're going to need is a rubber mat that will allow you to have full control of your body.
That means you need something where you won't likely slip while doing the moves.
Pilates is about concentration and most of its benefits actually come from there.
If you're going to have to be interrupted by those slips, you're just going to defeat the whole purpose of doing the exercise.
No matter how you try, it just won't work for you anymore because you won't be able to do it right.
Rubber mats allow your skin to have a steady grip so you get to perform the routines smoothly and confidently.
How thick your rubber mat is might just matter but only up to that level of ease that you're comfortable with while doing the exercise.
There are people who can't tolerate a hard surface so they're the ones who'll probably need thick mats.
However, if it doesn't really bother you, then a thin one might just be good enough.
Your success with Pilates definitely does not depend on the mat you use but as sure as the sun sets, it will affect how much you'll end up gaining from the program.
All things said, the comfort that your mat gives you should be your main consideration when shopping for it.
