How to Get Rid of Salamanders from My Garage

    • 1). Walk the perimeter of the garage. Seal any cracks or holes in the foundation or siding that are larger than 1/4 inch. Replace or repair any window screens or windows that are damaged as well.

    • 2). Remove any wood piles, boxes, crates, bags or smaller, easily lifted items from the floor. These make wonderful hiding spots for the salamander and eliminating them will make the garage less attractive to the reptiles.

    • 3). Eliminate any insects from the garage with commercial insecticides or more natural methods, such as the use of boric acid. Insects are the main source of food for salamanders and an insect-free garage will equal a salamander-free one as well.

    • 4). Catch the salamanders and relocate them. This is accomplished by either catching them with your hands, which is tricky because the amphibians are very quick, or catching them inside of a box. Wear gloves if you have an issue touching the salamanders. Relocate the salamanders in a marshy, damp area that is far from your home.
