How to Get Your Ears Cleaned
- 1). Soften the ear wax. Tilt your head to one side and place a few hydrogen peroxide drops or earwax removal drops into your ear. Wait two to three minutes to give the drops time to soften the wax.
- 2). Irrigate the ear canal. Hold your head over a sink. Fill the rubber-ball syringe with warm water and gently squeeze the water into your ear. The water should flush out the softened earwax. Repeat this process a few times to remove all the wax.
- 3). Clean the outer ear. Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol. Use the cotton swab to remove dirt trapped in the folds of your ear. Do not use the cotton swab to clean your ear canal.
- 4). Wash behind your ears. Use a soapy washcloth to clean the backs of your ears. Rinse fully with water. This step is most easily performed during a shower.
