How to Prevent Bedbugs - What Type of Tools Should I Use in and Around My Home or Business?

There is so much information on the internet about bed bugs, how to recognize them, how to kill or how to prevent bed bugs from be coming a infestation.
There are a lot of questions and so few good answers.
Questions like How do I recognize and know I have this problem? How should treat them? Should I throw away my mattress? What treatments are offered? And so on.
The best way to treat this problem is don't get it (prevention is always the best policy), with that said here are a few tips on what to do, remember though all types of treatments may not be for every one, but if you can find something in this article that will help you keep them out of your place of business or home then it served some purpose.
  • Vacuum.
  • Almost everyone has a vacuum, vacuuming the folds of bedding, sofas, cracks and crevices will help.
  • Interceptors.
  • There are some devices you can use that would hamper or help in keeping the bedbug from climbing up or leaving your bed or furniture.
  • Contact kill, steam.
  • Steaming machines come in all sizes and shapes and they will do the job.
    They kill the bed bug and the eggs.
    Some offices equipment could be a problem with steaming.
    Check first.
  • For those who don't like chemicals there are some all natural sprays around you need to check with local people and see what is available.
  • Chemical pesticides
  • I think when it comes to chemicals I would use a exterminator or a license pest control to help with this part unless you really know what you are doing.
  • Encasement's
  • Mattress Encasement's is a good way to go to treat and prevent infestations of this critter.
    You would and should check with the mattress manufacture to make sure the product will do what it claims it will do.
    They are not all equal.
    One thing to watch out for when installing a mattress encasement is sharp edges, Bed bugs can crawl out small holes if a tear is exists.
Take some time and read up before you get involved with a treatment.
Bed bug prevention is a must if you can do it, better to prevent than have to treat after the fact.
Also make sure you find a exterminator or pest control operator who knows something about how to prevent bed bugs.
