Now"s the Time to Start Looking for Ant Infestations

Ants are fascinating creatures.
These social insects can lift 20 times their own bodyweight, breathe through tiny holes in their bodies, and hear by feeling vibrations in the ground.
But ants are considered as pests in manmade structures despite their fascinating attributes.
Yes, these six-legged insects may not cause major problems in terms of health save for the small sting and skin redness from their bites but these are pests in the home, nonetheless.
This is because these tiny insects will infest decaying timber especially wood in fences, retaining walls, and buildings, thus, resulting in the compromised integrity of these structures.
As soon as you find even a single line of ants in your house, you should immediately look for other signs of infestation.
You should also be on the lookout for ant infestations the entire year so that you can immediately take the appropriate pest control action before the ant colonies grow larger and, thus, more difficult to eradicate.
Your best bet is to call in the pest control professionals first and then follow their preparation instructions.
What are the signs of ant infestations? The most common are: • Foragers are present.
These are the worker ants, which are usually wingless, with the responsibility of finding food for the entire colony.
If you see ants walking in a line with small crumbs of food on their backs, then you have just found the foragers - and they are certainly unwelcome in your home.
• Foraging trails are also present.
These trails can usually be detected by nose albeit faintly, thanks to the pheromones released by the ants as a way to communicate with their kind.
• Sawdust-like materials known as frass are visible.
It should be noted that ant tunnels in wood are clean while termite tunnels are covered with small amounts of mud.
• Rustling or crackling noises in the ceiling or in the wall.
This is usually true for large mature colonies.
You may want to get an insecticide spray to kill the ants - or perhaps, a slipper to smack these tiny creatures with - but this is not advisable.
You must get to the root of the problem - the queen ant itself because an ant colony only has one queen and when it dies, the colony will eventually die with her - and the best person for the job is a pest control professional.
Don't delay contacting with them if you see that your home is vulnerable.
