    Northern Arizona University

    • Northern Arizona University was the first school in the nation to offer an online bachelor of science in parks and recreation management. As of January 2011, this is the only online program nationally. Students complete 45 core credits in courses such as Inclusive Recreation, Wildland Recreation Management and Parks and Recreation Management and Finance. Students also can choose to specialize in community and commercial recreation or tourism, or another specialization of their choice.

    North Carolina State University

    • North Carolina State University offers a bachelor of science degree in parks, recreation and tourism management. As part of the program, students have access to the school's Geographic Information Systems Laboratory. Students can concentrate in three areas: parks and natural resource conservation, program management or tourism, and commercial recreation. Courses include Outdoor Recreation Management, Commercial Recreation and Tourism Management, and Inclusive Recreation. Students also must complete a field-specific internship to graduate.

    Slippery Rock University

    • Pennsylvania's Slippery Rock University offers a parks and resource management bachelor's degree. This degree prepares students for careers as a park manager, park planner or environmental educator, among other potential occupations. Courses include Inclusive Leisure Services, Cultural Resource Management, Outdoor Leadership, and Park Law Enforcement. In addition to coursework, students must complete a 15-week, full-time internship in parks and recreation, earning 12 credits.

    Texas A&M University

    • Students at Texas A&M University can earn a bachelor's degree in recreation, park and tourism sciences. This 120-credit program is designed to build students' problem-solving skills and teach them how to apply scientific principles to managerial problems. Students can choose an emphasis in a number of areas, including tourism management, community recreation and park administration, or parks and conservation. Courses include Park and Tourism Operations, Leisure and Outdoor Recreation, and Principles of Community Assessment.
