    Two-Layered Tablecloth

    • By using two different colored pieces of cloth, you can create a unique Christmas tablecloth. It is best to use a dark-colored piece of fabric as the top layer (such as red) and a light color (such as white) as the bottom layer. This will make your designs stand out more by preventing the colors from bleeding into one another. Cut out Christmas designs from the top layer, and either glue or sew them to the bottom layer. If you use glue, apply it to the top layer and do not place any glue close to the cut-out designs to avoid creating a mess on the bottom layer.

    Family Cloth

    • Use plain white tablecloth and have the family create Christmas designs and patterns to put on it. Children can cut designs from felt and glue them to the tablecloth, or they can use fabric paints to create their designs. Anyone in the family who knows how to sew can use her talents to help embroider designs into the cloth, or sew festive-colored fabric on to it. Each family member should create her own designs, but the smaller children can get a little help from their parents.

    Snowflakes and Christmas Trees

    • If you fold a piece of white cloth together and cut half of a snowflake or Christmas tree design out of it, you will get a whole snowflake or Christmas tree when you unfold it. Get a base tablecloth that is a solid green or red color, and start gluing or sewing your handmade snowflakes and Christmas trees to it to create your Christmas tablecloth. One design idea is to put Christmas trees along the border of the tablecloth and snowflakes in the middle.

    Christmas Gift

    • A simple Christmas table cloth idea that can be augmented in your own style is to overlap two different colored cloths to create one table setting. For example, you could place a white oval tablecloth on the table and then a red rectangular cloth over top of it. You can add trim to the top tablecloth by gluing or sewing gold or silver trim around it. You could also cut strips of green felt and glue them to the white tablecloth and when the red is placed on top it gives the look of a Christmas gift.
