How to Clean a Propane Barbecue Grill
- 1). Disconnect the gas lines from the grill. Disassemble the grill so that a thorough inspection can be performed. Inspect the interior fittings and the heating elements. Ensure there is no rust or other damage to these pieces. Replace any rusty or worn-out parts. Also, check the fuel levels in your propane tank and refill or replace as necessary.
- 2). Remove the ceramic or lava rocks from around the burner.
- 3). Scrape the inside of the grill with a putty knife to loosen up all the debris. Scoop it up and discard it.
- 4). Fill a bucket with warm water and a shot of liquid dish soap. Dip a rag in the soapy water and wipe down the interior components. For the more caked-on grime, scrub the grill with the scouring powder and a wadded up piece of aluminum foil. Then rinse the barbecue grill with clean water and a rag. Dry all the components and reassemble the grill.
- 5). Scrub off as much dirt and grime as you can from the grates of your grill with a stiff wire brush. Then use the scouring powder and the stiff wire brush and go over the grill grates until all the cooked-on mess has been removed. Rinse liberally with water. Dry the grate and place it back inside the grill.
- 6). Clean the outside of the grill if desired with baking soda, water and a sponge. Rinse with clear water.
