10 Tips To Achieve All Your Goals in 2011
In a recent US survey asking people what got in the way of them achieving their New Year's resolutions the most common reasons given were; procrastination (33%), lack of discipline (24%), not having a plan (19%) and 10% said having to "go it alone" ensured imminent failure.
I believe that you can achieve all your goals in 2011 and I would like to share with you some of my own highly effective tools to ensure 100% success.
You can use each of these 10 steps in your business and personal lives.
1.
Really really want it.
If it's a new client, meet all your targets or to get rid of something (a bad habit/bad thoughts) that isn't working for you, be sure you want it with a passion.
2.
Create a strategy to remind yourself constantly of your goal, why you are doing it and what you will get for it.
This will keep you focused and give you the reason 'why', when you feel yourself drifting.
Just like a timed sprinkler system for your garden, you will be constantly nourished and flourishing, instead of letting your dreams whither on the vine.
3.
Make SMART goals - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time framed.
4.
Be accountable - 10% of people interviewed about goal setting said that "going it alone" prevented them from achieving success.
Build a community, find a mentor or join a mastermind group to provide support and keep you on track.
5.
Monitor Your Progress - Have a monthly 'check-in' where you look at what you've achieved.
This way you can see the evidence of your progress.
6.
Celebrate Your Wins - Make landmarks along the way to your goal to help you monitor your progress.
When you hit that interim goal acknowledge your effort with a small treat or reward.
7.
Plot Your Path - It's one thing having a goal but how will you get there? By plotting a path outlining what you need to do, what equipment or training you will need, you can see a way of getting there that seems more realistic that just having an unclear vision.
8.
Be Kind To Yourself - If reaching goals were so easy we'd all be at the top of our professions.
Sticking with your goal takes time, energy, commitment and self belief.
Sometimes we lose steam and want to throw in the towel.
Be prepared for set backs, learn from the process and get back on track.
It's not the end of the world if you occasionally stray from your path.
9.
Why Might You Like To Fail? - Sometimes there is a hidden cost to reaching our goal.
What if you lose friends? What if you can't imagine sustaining a high income? Look at how your hidden beliefs may be sabotaging your dream.
10.
Be in Integrity With Yourself - If you say you are going to do something then do it.
Be your word and then you will be in integrity.
Unconsciously if you do what you say you will you set yourself up to being a person who commits and achieves.
The impact will show up in all areas of your life.
Keep your own promises.
Here's to a very successful 2011!
