According to an involved US organization, overseas holdings in the forests & farmland of the US have swelled by 6.7% during the last 10 months of 2010. Investors from the nations of Canada and the Netherlands own almost 50% of the entire overseas forest & farmland holdings across the US.
Holdings by investors from Canada were, by and large, across timber firms. In Maine, nearly 16% of land, privately owned, has overseas owners or leasers. This is nearly 200% of any other state. During 2010, the foreign holdings of Maine went north by nearly 232,000 acres.
Talking about the development, a concerned person was quoted as saying that the government and the involved authorities are not worried as to whether a person could be from--from inside in the state, or out of it. He added that what eventually matters is that how they really take care of the woods.
Overseas investors in the US own, or exercise temporary rights, via lease, nearly 24.2 million acres of farm and forest land which is privately held. This is up more than 65% since the year of 2004.
Meanwhile, a concerned person was quoted as saying that longtime trade & economic relations between the US and the Netherlands could be the key motivator behind the impressively high level of land investment.
As suggested by a recent government study, the Dutch were, by and large, the third biggest overseas investor in all US firms. Trade and investment made by the Dutch in the US produced nearly 625,000 job openings across the country.
He further said that pension funds (Dutch) are 130% of the size of the Dutch GDP even as the same is the biggest across the globe (considering the size of its economy). Pension funds (Dutch) are highly conventional even as the same favors investments across bonds & property.
He continued that there was a robust settlement of the Dutch farmers across the regions of Kansas, Texas, and California earlier even as the same may be the key reason behind the sustained interest in the farmland of the country.
He added that there is certainly a long-term, robust association (between the US & the Netherlands). This is noteworthy for a nation which is just 33% the size of Ohio, the US.
