Board of Directors

• The board of directors is the highest level of management in an organization. In a for-profit company, the owners appoint the board. In a nonprofit organization, the board may be appointed by election or another means outlined in the organization's bylaws. The board of directors oversees the top management team and provide general direction for the firm. Boards generally avoid day-to-day management.
