Real Life isn"t how it appears in the movies
I'm sure that I don't need to tell you that the family life portrayed in the movies is not a typical snapshot of what life is really like. You will often see other families and imagine that their life must be absolutely perfect but you should realise that everyone has their problems and issues, and it really boils down to how you cope with it.
For instance, you may be envious of your friend who lives two doors away and whose husband has just bought her a sports car for her birthday. You will automatically think everything is fine in her life compared to yours but you really don't know the real story. They may be having relationship problems or the husband may have felt that he has to prove to his wife how much he loved her by buying a car and getting himself deeper into debt.
These are obviously only examples but what I am trying to say is that you should not compare your family life to anybody else's because you probably don't know everything that goes on and the funny thing this, many of the families that you are comparing yourself to are more than likely envious of you. It really is a funny old world!
There is nothing wrong at all with wanting more out of life and everyone should have their goals and aspirations but it is easy to get you and your family in a rut by constantly comparing your lifestyle with others. It can all be very stressful and not at all worth it. You can find that you have spent years worrying about absolutely nothing and when you look back in years to come you will realise that it was a complete waste of time and energy, energy that would have been far better spent actually enjoying what you have already had. It should be remembered that your family will grow up very quickly and before you know it your children will have left home so don't waste your time on anything but them!
