  Fraxel gets its name from the way the laser skin treatment works on the skin: Tiny lasers target a fraction of the skin, allowing some of the fresher collagen underneath the skin to surface.
  
  In Minnesota, a number of dermatologists perform this procedure. While some do just the trademarked "Fraxel re:store" treatment for mild to severe damage, others also do the more-invasive "Fraxel re:pair" treatment. Unfortunately for some people, most of the Fraxel treatments are only offered in the Twin Cities area.

• On more than one occasion, Dr. Brian Zelickson has been named one of the Twin Cities' top doctors by Mpls. St. Paul Magazine. While that claim may be arbitrary (or the result of great marketing), it's certainly helped form a vibrant following for the clinic. On top of other cosmetic dermatology procedures, the clinic does both the "Fraxel re:store" procedure and the "Fraxel re:pair," meant to clear up serious damage to the skin. Doctors O.J. and Ruth Rustad provide "Fraxel re:pair" services, as well as other forms of cosmetic dermatology procedures. The office recommends Fraxel because of the low number of treatments required to achieve results. The office locations on the eastern side of the Twin Cities might make it more convenient for people who prefer not to drive into the inner city and suburbs for treatment.
