Some people are lucky enough to have naturally long and thick eyelashes.
However, not all of us are that fortunate and have to resort to other means.
While some prefer using an eyelash grower serum, others opt for more natural methods to help eyelashes grow.
There are some useful vitamins for eyelashes that may help.
Either way, simply topping up your body with some basic vitamins won't hurt.
There are some vitamins that may help eyelashes grow longer as they are known to promote a healthy hair growth.
These vitamins for eyelashes include B6, C, E and H.
B6 (pyridoxine) has been suggested to encourage hair growth, and as your eyelashes are natural hair, it stands to reason that B6 should help to grow eyelashes as well.
How B6 helps is that it keeps the hair supple, and the knock-on effect of this is that the lashes are less likely to break off.
You may be best getting a B complex supplement, as B2 (riboflavin) acts as a catalyst for B6 and so may also be useful.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is linked to cell growth and has a similar effect to B6 in that it stops the brittleness that causes the lashes to break.
Although you can get enough vitamin C from foods such as oranges and some green leafy vegetables, many people need a supplement.
This is because vitamin C needs to be replenished frequently in the body.
Vitamin E is another vitamin that stimulates the immune system.
The immune system is linked to hair growth and therefore may help eyelashes grow.
Lastly, we have vitamin H (Biotin).
Above B6, C and E, your first option should be Biotin as in addition to promoting hair growth, it has been suggested to also help eyelashes grow longer, thicker and be in a better condition than before.
You may also like to supplement any additional vitamins with Zinc as this is known to promote a healthy immune system.
Keratin and Iron can also be added, but there are reports of a link with cancer and other diseases, so it is particularly important to watch that you don't overdose on these.
We could not end this short article about growing eyelashes without reminding you of the importance of watching the amount of vitamins for eyelashes that you take.
Overdosing could not only reverse the desired effect, you may get other side effects as well.
You are also encouraged to look at your diet.
