If you have kids, you might already know that they need more than just a simple weekend trip to keep them entertained. Fortunately, Bay Area family activities are designed with 21st century attention spans in mind. From heart-pounding go-kart races to discos for babies, these exciting destinations serve up a smorgasboard of activities that will keep your kids happy and make you wish you were a child of the Pokemon generation too.

LeMans Karting Center

Experience the thrill of a fast-paced go-kart race as a family at LeMans Karting Center, a large racetrack that's perfect for beginners and seasoned drivers. Though it's a little pricier than others, every dollar you spend is worth the adrenaline rush galore, especially if you've got teenagers with drivers' licenses itching to drive fast. If it's your first time, try the Arrive-and-Drive racing, which is designed for drivers of all skill levels. Before you start your race, you'll have to watch a video that explains the rules and safety procedures. Then you get outfitted for safety and start your race! The track may be short, but it's full of twists and turns, and the go-karts are faster than the average machine.

If you have young racers between the ages 12 and 17, they'll need to obtain their LMK Competition License at their Junior Driver's School. In here, they'll learn the basics of racing from a seasoned instructor, gain a better understanding about the safety measures, and practice at on-track races.

Baby Loves Disco

Baby Loves Disco is one of the most unique family activities you could ever attend with your kids. Basically, it's an afternoon dance party designed for young kids and their parents in an exciting nightclub environment. It's held at an actual club, which is filled with games, tents, stuffed animals, and hula hoops, which kids can pick up and play anytime. Of course, there's a colorful dance floor with a bubble machine and a real disc jockey that plays child-friendly tunes. In between songs you can fuel up at snack tables, which serve goldfish crackers, veggies, and juice boxes. Once your boogying baby is tired of dancing, you can rest in a "lounge" with huge throw pillows, books, toys, and puzzles. It's a great experience that party-loving families should try at least once.

Super Franks Fun Adventure

Why not enjoy a leisurely afternoon at Super Franks? This family restaurant is designed by parents for parents; it has three different play areas that kids can explore and a cozy coffee shop where you can enjoy a steaming cup of coffee. If you have kids age 5 or younger, you might want to let them play at Taught Town, Super Franks' interactive preschool playground that combines interactive learning experiences with free play. You can play and learn with your child, or watch them play together. Older kids will have a great time at their Mini Gym Play Area, which has exciting activities like dodgeball, basketball, plasma car racing, and obstacle courses. And downstairs is an arcade which has the newest video games and redemption games - minus the violent shoot-em-up ones, of course.
