Managing Content, Individual Keywords and Keyword Phrase Densities

Really, the Web is all about content -- text, photos, videos and more -- and it can be a major factor in attracting visitors to your site.
Web pages can have Flash movies, chat areas, discussion boards or forums, but it's the written text content that plays the greatest role in attracting traffic to your website.
When a search is carried out, the web sites that contain the words used in the search will be listed.
Your content needs to be relevant, desirable and original so that it meets the needs of visitors and customers alike.
Content, and specifically text content, is essential when it comes to search engine optimization.
Without relevant content, search engines will not be able to link the words used in the search with the content on your website.
This is where the concept of keywords comes in to play.
A keyword is a descriptive term or group of words that captures the general essence of a topic, product, service, etc.
In order to generate search engine traffic to your site or improve your search engine ranking, you must use keywords effectively and correctly in your web content.
Keywords can be words or phrases, and you must be careful as to how you include them in your content.
Keyword Density refers to the number of times that a keyword appears in a certain page in relation to all the words in that page.
Search engines select websites with content that most resembles the terms that have been used to conduct the search.
If your website has the most keywords that match the search criteria, yours is likely to be listed first and those with the fewest will be listed later.
This concept is sometimes misused by creators of web content, who stuff keywords into the content even where they do not necessarily make sense.
Search engine optimization experts consider two to five percent as the optimum density for individual keywords.
And using more than the recommended number of keywords can actually result in your site being penalized.
Because most businesses now have websites, it's imperative that web pages be fully optimized so search engines can accurately index the pages on your site.
In today's tough economic climate, it only makes sense to be as competitive as possible.
