After investing in seamless gutters, the next step is maintaining your gutters so that it stays as new as possible.
One of the important factors on keeping them in good condition is to regularly clean them.
Here are some tips and reminders on gutter cleaning.
Apparently, you can hire someone to clean the gutters for you.
However, you can save $100 or more from cleaning the gutters yourself.
So better think of it as a way to stretch your body and get a physical workout.
You will be needing items such as a cloth, bucket, gardening shovel, ladder, work gloves, drain clearing tool, hose nozzle, and safety glasses.
Of course, be in your working clothes.
Another reminder, clean your gutters on a dry season.
Never try to clean if it just rained because it's very slippery.
Before cleaning the gutters, start to get your ladder to gain access to the roof.
Using the gardening shovel, remove the twigs from gutters.
Put the twigs and other debris in the bucket.
Check the downspouts and make sure they aren't clogged.
Use the hose nozzle and wash each length of the gutter.
Try to use an on-off hose to avoid much water being poured in the gutter.
This part is a bit messy so try to be gentle and careful.
If the water doesn't drain well, use your drain clearing tool and try to clear any debris that might hinder along the way.
How often should you clean your gutters? Cleaning twice a year would be the average.
I recommend you to clean your gutters by yourself than asking for professionals.
You could really save a lot from the service fee you have to pay by asking for professionals.
First time cleaning the gutters would be a bit messy and tasking to do.
But cleaning your own house is still the best.
You could directly see the problems in your house.
Just be careful.
