The Jewish Star, commonly known as ‘Star of David' is a religious symbol of the Jews. The symbol is represented by a hexagram. The 6-pointer star is created by 2 entwined equilateral triangles. Though the star is also renowned in Christianity, Islam, as well as Hinduism, it's been mostly associated with Judaism. Hence it is a sacred representation for them. Though there are many prevalent theories describing the origin of the Star of David, but one thing is for sure that it's an ancient symbol associated with religion, mystic and spirituality.

Star of David is also broadly used in different occult and pagan worships. It has also been referred to The Second Mile, a book describing the Masonic practices.  The Magen David or the Star of David, as its most commonly known as, is often associated with King David (though some theories relate it to King Solomon as well). Some describe it to be at the crest of King David's shield. It became the sign of the Jewish people in 17th century though earlier references of it can be cited in central Europe. Furthermore, mentions of ‘Shield of David' can also be found in Jewish Prayer book, ‘Siddur'. However, it's during World War II that the Star of David was cemented to Jewish religion during Hitler's regime. His people made the Jews wear yellow badge containing the star as a mark of identification and shame.

Though Jews were made to wear identification signs (often decreed by local authorities) even before the invasion of the German force in Poland during 1939, it became widely practiced during the phase of oppression on Jew people by Nazis. All the Jews were required to wear yellow badge with the star and the word Jude inscribed inside it. It became the sign of holocaust during which millions of Jews were massacred and subjected to appalling treatment in the many concentration camps in Reich region.

The intensity of those crimes against humanity was so terrifying that it led the world leaders to unify to save innocent lives. World War II that followed the holocaust changed the course of human history. It let the Jews reclaim their lives and fate. Jews worldwide unified under the Star of David to take their future in their own hand.  A blue Star of David adorns the middle of the blue-white flag of Israel that is now a free land for all the Jews to practice their beliefs and vocation.
