How to Put a Jersey in a Frame
- 1). Lay the jersey flat on a table and measure the interior of the jersey. Record the measurements in width starting from the seams under the arms of the jersey and then the length of the jersey from the neck to the tail. If you want to frame your jersey with the sleeves extended, measure the width of the jersey from sleeve-to-sleeve to ensure you purchase the correct size of frame.
- 2). Select the type of frame you want to use to mount your jersey. Be sure your frame is large enough to accommodate the measurements you took of your jersey, whether you choose to use a traditional picture frame or a shadow box frame.
- 3). Cut your mat board to match the measurements of the interior of the jersey. Use a push pin to poke four holes along the top of the board near each shoulder and along each side of the jersey near the waist.
- 4). Sew the jersey to the mat board using a needle and thread the same color as the jersey. Loop your needle through the holes poked into the mat board and through the side of the jersey you are displaying. Fold over the sleeves of the jersey and stitch them to the side of the jersey you will be displaying.
- 5). Cut your foam board to the size of your frame and insert the board into the frame. Lay the mounted jersey on top of the foam board and place the glass front on top of the jersey. Lock the frame in place and hang the jersey in a highly visible place.
