Main Review
Chocolate and mint is a good combination when you are looking for a sweet flavor combination that is somewhat refreshing. You have the bitter sweetness of the chocolate and the somewhat effervescent feeling of the mint. If you are a fan of that combination, today's review of Sugar Free York Peppermint Patties may put another sugar free candy on your list to try.
Inside the bag of Sugar Free York Peppermint Patties, you will find fifteen individually packaged patties with a shiny silver wrapper. The mint patties are about the size of a silver dollar and are covered in a solid amount of chocolate. In fact, the patties remind me of a cookie due to their size even though they are technically a candy.
When I bit into the first patty, I immediately noticed how thick the dark chocolate exterior is. In fact, the packaging states that there is even more chocolate and they were not kidding; there is a solid crunch or snap to the patty due to the chocolate's thickness that is satisfying.
The chocolate's flavor is solid, sweet but unspectacular. Once you get past the chocolate, the white minty center offers a good complement to the chocolate, however, the minty flavor could be stronger. The mint flavor is smooth but one would need to eat several of the patties to "Get the Sensation" as York's catchphrase says.
Product Wrap Up
Ultimately, the Sugar Free York Peppermint Patties are a decent product. I would probably buy them again, however, I do not believe I would crave them as I would other sugar free candies. Comparing the patties to other chocolate mint products, such as the Andes Creme de Menthe Thins, I would say they are just a notch below. While they are more substantial than the Andes Thins, the York Peppermint Patties' flavors are a little lacking. However, maybe the answer is just to eat more, but if you do, just be careful because eating too many of these could lead to giving you a laxative effect and they are not a low calorie food.
