The Masters Degree in Horticulture
The main objective of this science is for the conservation of the environment and its beautification.
Those who undertake the Masters degree in Horticulture learn different ways and techniques of making the soil capable of yielding a high quality of everything they handle which includes flowers, crops, vegetables, fruits, ornamental plants and even nursery crops.

In order for one to gain entry into a master degree in horticulture program, you need to be a holder of a bachelor's degree in horticulture.
This however is not the only bachelors degree that you can have in order to undertake the masters program.
Others include a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences, environmental science, botany, or any other field that is related to horticulture and the environment.
Most of the schools that offer this program usually need individuals to take the Graduates Record Examination (GRE) and get scores that are satisfactory.
This is in addition to the bachelor's degree that you already have.
The duration of the masters degree in horticulture is usually 2 years and at the end of the course students are awarded a Master of Science Degree.
The coursework includes physiology of horticulture species, specific types of plants, breeding of different varieties of horticultures and also scientific plant management and development.
Most of the universities that offer this degree program permit their students to select their specific areas of specialization from a number of sub-branches which basically include Environmental Horticulture, Ornamental Horticulture, Landscape Architecture and Crop Science.
Most of the studies of the Master's level are geared towards specific areas of study and research.
This basically means that there is limited seminar presentations and handling of papers during this course of study.
There are many employment opportunities.
Graduates of this masters program can work with specific firms or they can also opt to work independently.
Working independently means starting your own business.
Needless to say, you need to have business acumen to succeed, but it is more rewarding when you do.
The work environment is very good.
One of the best things about it is that you get to choose whether you want to work inside an office or outdoors.
You can also have combination of both, where you work indoors some days and outdoors other days.
Many of us can use getting out of the stuffy office once in a while.
