Moisten the skin with warm water. Massage shaving cream or gel into the skin. Allow the shaving cream to sit on the skin for a few minutes to help the hairs plump and stand up. - 3). Check the blades in the razor to make sure they're sharp and clean. Dull blades cut the skin and pull at hair.

Apply light pressure with the razor blades and move the razor in short strokes, with the direction of the growth of the hair.
