The noise generated by the older type vacuum cleaner was enough to drive you a little crazy and I remember the dog running out of the house to some far away place whenever it started - so the effects of the non bagless vacuum was to drive both man and beast a little crazy.
The older type cleaner also many leaks and while many modern cleaners do have some leakage the older type was a real health issue.
The air was not just tainted with some dust microcosm dust mites but the whole room was filled with the dust.
As a child my skin just itched and itched.
The other health issue and even more importantly was the dust mite in the air promoting asthma and other breathing and lung complaints.
In those days nothing much was thought of it but today we know that the air filled with dust mite can be even be deadly to some of us and especially for small children So enter the bagless vacuum cleaner, which provided a filtering of the air, which eliminated bronchial complaints and skin itch? There are many many versions of the bagless vacuum today and all of them have their specialties and most of them are so safe.
However they still do not eliminate the noise factor, which sent both me and the dog running for cover on the vacuum day.
My salvation came when as an adult my wife and I were able to move into equipment, which eliminated both dust and noise - well almost all noise.
Without speaking of brands we had installed a bagless vacuum cleaner, which operated from a plug in the wall.
The dust and carpet rubbish were sucked out to an outside unit, which accumulated the discharge for over some months before needing to be emptied and then you would simply remove the bag from the unit and replace so there was never an open bag to deal with.
Life is good now and I not only do not run for cover on the vacuuming days but also have offered my wife to do all the vacuuming.
What a change from the days of the whining dust producing vacuum cleaner from my childhood.
