    • 1). Close the house's main water valve and place a bucket beneath the pipes under the old vanity. Turn the water faucet on to release any remaining water pressure and use a pipe wrench to disconnect the pipes under the sink.

    • 2). Cut the seal between the old vanity top and the wall using a utility knife. Use a screwdriver to remove the anchor screws on the inside of the old vanity and lift it out of its place.

    • 3). Measure the area where you plan to install the vanity to ensure the vanity will fit within the dimensions, including any baseboards or other trim on the walls. Mark on the wall the height and width of the new vanity and use a stud finder to find and mark the location of the wall studs where the vanity will sit. Trim the baseboards with a handsaw, if necessary, to help the vanity fit correctly.

    • 4). Put the new vanity in position and place a level on the top. Put shims under the sides of the base until the vanity sits level. Drive wood screws through the anchor holes in the back of the vanity and into the wall studs.

    • 5). Press plumber's putty onto the sides of the faucet's putty plate and position the putty plate on the vanity. Insert the faucet parts into their holes and tighten the anchor nuts on the underside of the countertop. Press plumber's putty onto the bottom of the sink's drain and place the drain in the hole in the sink. Thread the flange onto the underside of the sink's drain and tighten the lock nut onto the flange using an adjustable wrench.

    • 6). Wrap plumber's tape clockwise around the sink drain's threads and use a pipe wrench to secure the pipes to the underside of the sink. Slide flexible water lines over the openings on the water valves as well as the openings in the underside of the faucet. Apply a layer of caulk to the gap between the vanity and the wall.
