Menopause As a Powerful Journey
Menopausal symptoms are very real and are also very frustrating, annoying, and life altering.
However, nothing in life is an accident.
Menopause was not created to make women's lives miserable.
It is a natural process that has the possibilities of enhancing our lives.
It is our choice whether we choose to view it as a passage to embrace and to reap its gifts or to numb ourselves mentally and medically to negate the entire passage.
Menopause, marked by the cessation of the menses, occurs at the average age of 51.
A woman is considered menopausal after one year with no period.
One-third of a woman's life is post-menopausal.
However, the menopausal process starts as early as age 35 with symptoms similar to premenstrual syndrome.
It is our bodies attempt to slow us down long enough to listen to our inner wisdom.
Our bodies are always attempting to get our attention when we are out of balance and menopause is no exception.
If we numb ourselves to our body's messages, they will re-emerge in degree of intensity until we take the symptoms seriously enough to wake up and change what is not working in our lives.
Make the time to be alone.
Menopause demands time alone to explore the depths of our wombs.
What dreams lay silenced in our wombs crying to be birthed? We birth many things from babies to businesses and no birthing process is without its challenges.
There is discomfort and pain along with great excitement and jubilation in this birthing process.
Menopause is no different.
There is dilation and contraction.
We are each rebirthing ourselves into a woman we have never been before.
This is scary, exciting, and challenging.
The unknown is always a frightening place.
Menopause shifts our entire reality into one of unpredictability.
It is in this powerful, intense passage that our hearts open to our intuitive wisdom, our inner beauty, our feminine power, our sensuality, and our passion for life.
Once the shift is made, we will allow no one to close it down again.
The menopausal goddess will not settle, sacrifice, or surrender, for she knows her power in co-creation for a world that works for all.
She knows the untruths that have kept women silenced and oppressed.
Embrace this journey as a time to move from caregiver of others to your own inner soul journey, to ignite your dreams that have been put on hold, to create your personally designed life that resonates in your heart, and to step into leadership whether in the home, community, or on the world stage.
