How to Make Freeze Pop Covers
- 1). Lay a thawed freeze pop over the felt. Place it in the corner of the sheet of felt and line up the bottom (short end) of the freeze pop with the bottom of the felt and to do the same with the long sides of the pop and the felt. Affix the freeze pop in this position with a piece of clear adhesive tape.
- 2). Fold the edge of the cloth with the freeze pop attached to it so that the pop is covered by the felt on both sides.
- 3). Cut the cloth carefully around the freeze pop to trim away all but what you need to wrap around it. Add a little extra cloth to create a ½-inch margin on the long, unfolded side of the pop and on the bottom; take this from the lower layer of felt where the pop isn't attached.
- 4). Thread the sewing needle. Loop the thread around itself to double-up the length; use the doubled-up length when sewing for extra strength in your stitches.
- 5). Unfold the wrapped felt from around the freeze pop and remove both the pop and the tape. Fold the felt back into the shape it was around the freeze pop and safety pin it in place.
- 6). Sew around the long, unfolded edge of the felt piece using a whip stitch; this is a stitch that loops around the outside edge of the two items with each pass, just like the stitch used on a baseball. Space the stitches ¼-inch apart or closer. Backstitch (stitch again) for about 1 inch over each end of the long side to make the corners more secure. Stitch twice over the entire length of one of the short edges.
- 7). Decorate the finished sleeve with puffy fabric paints. Try to cover at least 1/3 of the surface area of the sleeve with paint. The rubbery paints will make the sleeve easy to grip as well as adding decoration to it.
