She barely finished taping her final scenes as Days of Our Lives' Sami Brady, and Alison Sweeney has already landed her next daytime gig. She's heading to General Hospital. But fret not Salem fans, it's not to take on a brand new soap character.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Sweeney has secured a job behind the scenes. The soap's executive producer, Frank Valentini, told the magazine that Sweeney had observed the show's directing team and when a position opened up, he asked her if she'd be interested in taking it.

Sweeney's answer was a resounding, "Yes." She is slated to direct her first episode sometime in August.

Sweeney, of course, directed episodes of Days of Our Lives during her tenure on the soap, after following the show's team around and learning everything she could about the process.

"I feel like I'm good at it," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2013. "And I feel like I'm learning something new every day when I'm directed by them and continue to learn when I'm directing."

That's not the only project for Sweeney. The actress, who also hosts The Biggest Loser, is in development with Hallmark Channel to star-in and executive produce Radio Hype, a Hallmark Channel Original Movie. The movie is about a radio host who moves to Chicago for work and love. Once she gets there, her life takes a big turn.

Sweeney last appeared in a Hallmark Channel Original Movie in 2013, when she co-stared with Edward Asner and Greg Vaughan (Eric, Days of Our Lives) in Second Chances, a romantic comedy. She played Jenny McLean, a 911 call center operator, who flirts with a firefighter (Vaughan) she frequently receives calls from.

The pair eventually ended up falling love.
