Mardi Gras theme party's are one of the more popular party themes and are held in many countries.
Although they are traditionally held on "Fat Tuesday" or Shrove Tuesday you can in fact hold a Mardi Gras theme party at any time of the year.
Take a look at the following Mardi Gras party ideas to give you some inspiration for your upcoming event.

As with any party you're planning on throwing in this day and age, you should set up a Facebook group to invite all your guests and keep them up to date with everything.
This way everybody will be able to see who is coming and this typically increases attendance.
This is because most people tend to log into Facebook everyday so they will often be reminded about your party.

Send out physical invitations as well! These could be in the style of a party mask cut from paper or of some fancy costume.
Use a computer graphic program to help you with this.

The traditional colours of Mardi Gras are purple, green and gold.
Your decorations should reflect these colors.
The easiest things to get hold of would be balloons and plenty of them.
Also you can get table cloths and paper plates in these colors from any dedicated party shop.

You should endeavor to dress up as outlandishly and elaborately as humanly possible.
Consider dressing up as monarchs from the past, crazy jesters or evil clowns.

For the drink, it is traditional to drink Bloody Mary's! These consist of Vodka, lemon, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and tomato juice.

The traditional music which you should play would be Jazz and Blues as popularized in the New Orleans French Quarter.
Make up a playlist for your iPod in advance to make sure you aren't worrying about music on the day.
