Choosing the Right Bathroom Faucet
Although there are hundreds of styles to choose from bathroom faucets can usually be broken down into several distinct categories.
Wide Set - A wide set faucet has separate handles for cold and hot water mounted either side of a central spout.
The three elements are spaced further apart than other fixtures and are perfect for a spacious, contemporary bathroom sink.
Center Set and Mini Spread - Smaller versions of a wide set faucet; these fixtures can be used with smaller sinks to impart the same sense of simple elegance that a wide set does.
Single Hole - The simplest of faucets, with a single mixing handle attached to the water spout.
This style works very well in smaller bathrooms and powder rooms.
Basin Faucets - Hot and cold water handles are located on separate sides of the sink, each has its own spout and water only mixes in the sink.
Basin faucets are great for a bathroom design that is vintage in feel.
Wall Mounted - Wall mounted faucets can be very dramatic as they are usually installed with a bowl sink.
In addition to these basic types, faucets can be found in all kinds of shapes, sizes, materials and finishes.
As faucets can range in price from $25 to $2,000 and up it is essential that you make sure that your choice of faucet will actually work with your chosen sink before you make any purchasing decisions.
Ask your bathroom remodeling contractor if the faucet that you have seen in that glossy magazine will actually work in the grand scheme of the bathroom remodel you are undertaking.
