Essential Camping Equipment For a Memorable Trip!

The key to being a successful outdoorsman is to be ready for anything, and choosing your equipment wisely is the first step towards that readiness.
A little common sense and preparation can go a long way towards having a successful trip! Your first consideration when planning a trip should be clothing.
Many people overlook this aspect of planning, but when you are caught in inclement weather you will greatly appreciate the extra planning and effort in choosing season and weather appropriate clothing and outerwear.
Long pants and jackets may be necessary even during the warm summer months, especially when hiking through wooded areas.
The second, and equally important, piece of equipment is a camping tent.
These are available in all shapes and size.
What kind and what size of camping tent you choose will be dictated largely by the size of your camping party and the kind of weather you expect to face.
It always pays to err on the side of caution, however, and unless you will be hiking long distances where weight and size is a concern, a larger, more weather resistant tent is probably worth bringing.
Another important item for your camping trip is a stove.
Even though roasting marshmallows on an open fire is exciting, a good, quality camping stove can make your trip so much more enjoyable.
Camping stoves are often fueled by either propane or liquid camping fuel.
The choice is up to you, as there is very little difference in the cost and use of these stoves.
An often overlooked but essential piece of the camping equipment puzzle is a water filter.
Unless you are 100% certain that you will have access to a potable water supply, a water filter can mean the difference between clean, healthy water and dirty, unsafe water that can lead to sickness or even death.
Portable water filters systems vary, so choose one that will provide enough clean water for the size of your party.
Other important camping equipment items include a lighting source such as a lantern or flashlights, cutting tools such as knives and hatches, and even some household utility items you may not think to bring.
For example, duct tape, scissors, plastic bags and zip-ties are often forgotten but desired camping items.
And remember, never go camping or hiking without packing a proper first aid kit.
In addition to a first aid kit, pack any other medical related items specific to yourself such as contact solution or an extra pair of eyeglasses.
If you are planning an extended trip, then an extra supply of over the counter pain relievers, allergy medications and stomach medicine will be welcomed if you ever become ill during your adventure!  Be safe and tread lightly!
