    Pitching the tent

    • 1). Choose the area where the tent will stand. A level surface is the best platform for a tent. Although, if rain is in the forecast, a slightly angled surface will keep water from accumulating around the tent.

    • 2). Clear the area of sticks, rocks and other debris. Sticks may puncture the tent floor, and rocks will cause discomfort during sleep.

    • 3). Spread a tarp out on the area to keep the tent floor dry.

    • 4). Open the tent bag and take out the tent. Allow the tent to unfold and make sure it remains upright.

    • 5). Drive stakes through the loops at the tent corners and the guy lines. The stake should be angled slightly so that it leans away from the tent.

    • 6). Fold the tent according to its instructions. Different brands of pop-up tents fold up differently. For most tents the frame loops should be brought together and held with one hand while the other hand folds the tent in the manner directed in the tent's instructions.

    • 7). Connect any straps and insert the tent into its bag.
