How do I Prevent Mold on Wood With Boric Acid?
- 1). Combine one part hydrogen peroxide with three parts water in the bucket. Stir mixture thoroughly.
- 2). Add 2 cups of boric acid to the mixture for every gallon of the water/peroxide mixture. Stir again until the boric acid is completely absorbed.
- 3). Pour the boric acid mixture into the plastic spray bottle. Make certain that the nozzle is in the closed position, then gently shake the bottle to ensure proper mixing.
- 1). Place rubber gloves on hands and secure a protective face mask over the nose and mouth area. This will help avoid accidental exposure to the mold spores while applying the boric acid mixture.
- 2). Spray the boric acid mixture to spray all areas of the wood where you wish to prevent mold. Make sure the wood is wet but not overly saturated.
- 3). Allow the boric acid mixture to absorb into the wood for 24 hours.
- 4). Spray the boric acid mixture to the wood again after 24 hours have passed, using the same method as previously. Wipe any established mold away as you work, using the sponge.
- 5). Dry all areas that have been treated with the boric acid mixture using clean, dry towels.
