Interested in developing a six pack or taking up a course in golf? Well, the journey isn't going to be a demanding one unless you are going to follow the right track.
People do believe that it is quite enough to exercise and tone the abdominal muscles to achieve good balance required for various sports activities.
But, I am afraid that it isn't the truth.
Have you heard that it is essential to have a well toned core to achieve great results with your body, be it in baseball or swimming? To put it in simple terms, core muscles refer to the group of muscles stretching between the bottom of your rib cage and your pelvic girdle.
The centre of gravity of the body is located in this region and hence it is responsible for maintaining a good posture.
It also supports the spinal cord in its position.
No wonder, they have been aptly named as the 'core', as these muscles are responsible for holding the core architecture of our skeletal system in their place.
They are involved in protecting the back and the abdominal muscles from pain and injuries.

Here are some tips to tone your core muscles: Since we are concentrating on one of the most important group of muscles, patience and perseverance are crucial for achieving the desired results.
Improper techniques and impatience will result in danger.
It is highly recommended to increase the intensity of the exercises in a gradual manner.
Simple Exercises: Push ups and pull ups are some of the great ways to start strengthening the core muscles.
They require no or very little equipment to start with.
Ensure to keep your hands slightly apart from your body and rest your feet on the ground, while you perform the push ups.
As you progress, you can challenge yourself by elevating your feet on to a raised platform.
Pull ups are fun when done on the parallel iron bars at the gym.
Another good way to start is to make use of fitness balls.
Just trying to maintain your stability while trying to sit on or lie across the ball are good ways of getting your core muscles exercised.
Yoga Exercises: Bridges and Planks are the most widely followed exercises to achieve core strength.
While performing bridges, make sure to rest your entire body on your feet and hands and while releasing yourself, do it in a gradual manner and take few breaths in the lying position before you move on to your next exercise.
While performing planks, make sure that your body is parallel to the ground and try to maintain the position as long as possible.
Be conscious while performing these exercises.
Distraction may prove to be dangerous while doing bridges and planks.
Aerobic Exercises: Core exercises combined with outdoor activities are always fun.
Try to renew your interest in an outdoor activity or pick up an activity as your hobby.
Outdoor activities like cycling, jogging, swimming, rock climbing always top the chart.
It is an interesting and a refreshing way to strengthen your core.
It is one of the best options available to the health conscious extroverts.
Intensive Workouts: Boot camp workouts are quite popular since they are fun filled, challenging, less demanding, in terms of, equipments required and the time invested and an efficient way to burn calories, lose fat and develop a stronger core in a short span of time.
A well designed workout comprises of a set of core strengthening exercises with gradual increase in their intensities and with regular intervals of rest.
Investing time in strengthening and maintaining your core would make way for easier building up of other muscles in the body.
So, try to incorporate some of the above said exercises into your exercise regimen as per your level of convenience and start building a stronger core.
