Professional Carpet Cleaning Methods
- One of the most popular methods in the past was the wet shampoo cleaning. It is not used any more, as there are more effective ways for cleaning carpets. But, how was this cleaning performed? The shampoo was applied to the rug with a rotary machine, after which a special wet vacuuming machine sucked back the shampoo and the loosened up dirt. It was a very effective method, but the equipment for it was quite heavy. Experts stopped using it because other more effective and easy-to-perform techniques became popular.
- Dry foam carpet cleaning - this is probably the strangest-sounding method. There is no such thing as dry foam, but the method is called this way because this foam consists only of 10% liquid and everything else is air. The dry foam is being applied by a machine, which has a pressure tank full of water and shampoo. This is an effective carpet cleaning technique, but it is not very popular, nowadays, too.
- The encapsulation method was the reason for the wet shampoo cleaning to lose popularity. It is a very interesting cleaning technique, as the chemicals used in it crystallise dirt. The chemicals are small crystal polymers which dissolve and absorb all kinds of soil and filth. They are being applied by a rotary machine and brushes. Once the dirt is crystallised, the crystals can be removed with a vacuum cleaner.
- The dry compound method is almost the same as the encapsulation method, with the one difference that in this technique the chemicals don't crystallise soil and they are not exactly chemicals but biodegradable materials. The detergent is spread all over the flooring and brushed into its fibres. It loosens and absorbs filth and after some time it can be vacuumed. This cleaning technique is very popular for cleaning carpets made of natural materials, such as jute and sisal.
- Hot water extraction carpet cleaning is probably the most wide spread method for rug cleaning. It can be used on all types of carpets, except for such made of natural materials. This is a cleaning technique which people can perform on their own, if they have the proper machine. There is only one detail they should be careful about and that is not to over soak their floorings. The machine works very simple, though. It should be charged with enough water, first. Then a detergent is being sprayed all over the rug, and the machine gets into action. It releases water under pressure, which loosens the dirt, and then vacuums it back. In the end you have a perfectly cleaned carpet and a steam cleaning machine full of muddy water.
