Does a band have to sound original or unique to be successful in metal or any type of music? Absolutely not. There are some very unique sounding bands that sell minimal amounts of CDs, and some very generic ones that sell millions. However, in a crowded genre like metalcore, forging a unique identity is really difficult.
Fury And The Fallen Ones is the debut CD from the Los Angeles, California band The Ghost Inside.
It's typical metalcore, with numerous breakdowns and shouting vocals. There are a million bands that sound exactly like The Ghost Inside. However, they do write very catchy songs, which puts them a step ahead of the pack.
In addition to the aggression and breakdowns, there is plenty of melody and some excellent riffs. Fury And The Fallen Ones sounds generic at times, but there's plenty here to satisfy metalcore fans.
