Dog crate training is an efficient way to house train a dog.
A dog crate is a cage composed of wood, rods, wire or plastic.
Its aim is to serve confinement for reasons of comfort, safekeeping and housebreaking.
You may think that keeping your pet in a crate is mean.
Pets do not like to soil their sleeping quarters if given proper opportunity to eliminate elsewhere.
Temporarily restricting your dog to a small place strongly obstructs the tendency to urinate and defecate.
Your pet should only be limited to a crate when you are at home.
Except at night, provide your dog an opportunity to relieve himself/herself every hour.
Each time you let him/her out, put him/her on leash and right away take him/her outside.
Once outside, give him/her about 2-6 minutes to produce.
If he/she does not eliminate within the allotted period of time, directly return him/her to his/her cage.
If she does eliminate, then right away reward him/her with praise, love, and play.
For young dogs, after every one hour, take him/her to his/her toilet area again and again.
Never give your dog free run of your house unless you surely know that his/her bowels and bladder are empty.
Important Things To Keep In Mind-: Introduce your pup to the crate slowly.
Put something soft in the bottom of the crate, along with some of your dog's playthings.
Throw some treats inside.
Let your dog explore the crate at his/her own pace never force him/her to go inside the crate.
Praise him/her and give him a treat when he/she goes inside the crate.
Until he/she seems relax with his/her crate, keep the door unclosed.
Things Not To Do While Crate Training-: There are a few simple rules to make crate training successful.
Never use your dog's crate to punish him/her.
Your pet should consider his crate a happy, pleasant, and protected place.
It is also important that you never let your dog out of the crate while he/she is whining.
