How to Make a Dishwasher Stop Staining Dishes
- 1). Pour 1 gallon of hot water into a bucket. Add two caps full of all-purpose cleaner to the bucket. Put on rubber gloves to protect your skin from the drying effects of the cleaning solution.
- 2). Dip an old toothbrush in the all-purpose cleaning solution. Scrub around the edge of the dishwasher door and rubber door seal. Use the toothbrush and cleaning solution to scrub any other small areas that would be hard to reach with a sponge.
- 3). Soak a sponge in the all-purpose cleansing solution. Scrub the inside of your dishwasher to remove mold, mildew and stains from food. Rinse the sponge as needed. Add more all-purpose cleaner and continue to wash the inside of the dishwasher.
- 4). Fill a dishwasher-safe bowl with 2 cups of white vinegar. Position the bowl of vinegar in the bottom rack of the dishwasher.
- 5). Run the dishwasher on a normal cycle, using hot water. Stop the dishwasher halfway through the wash cycle. Allow the steam from the water and vinegar to loosen and remove mineral deposits and hard water stains in the dishwasher.
- 6). Resume the dishwasher cycle. Once the dishwasher cools down, remove the bowl from the dishwasher. Dry the inside of the appliance with clean cloths.
- 7). Fill your dishwasher's rinse agent reservoir with full-strength white vinegar each time you do dishes. This prevents hard water stains from forming.
- 8). Remove the dishes promptly after washing and dry them with a kitchen towel to prevent mineral deposit stains.
