Depressed About Herpes? Suicidal About Herpes?
I think everyone gets depressed when they first learn they have herpes.
I know that I did.
It was going on 20 years ago for me, and since then I have learned how to get over depression regarding herpes.
I have also learned how to never have an outbreak, which is a big factor of course.
I now help people prevent herpes outbreaks.
I have websites, and I get a lot of emails, and quite a few phone calls too.
I have heard many many stories by people who were depressed about having herpes.
I have heard from people who were suicidal over it too.
If you are depressed about having herpes, this article will help you a lot.
First off, we are not alone.
1 in 5 adults has herpes, and in New York it is 1 in 4.
Here's a little game you can play, as you walk along a street..
...
you count the people who pass you walking towards you...
to yourself, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,...
"he's got it", and then continue, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,...
"she's got it" and so on.
You can do this on a bus or in a theatre...
count yourself and then look at the others around you.
Someone really close to you there has herpes! And then look at the people...
Do you see anyone who looks depressed? Perhaps...
but if so, they could be depressed over anything, or maybe they have herpes too.
If you see someone who looks happy, know that they might have herpes and they are learning how to enjoy life anyway! You can be one of them, and it is not difficult.
The point is life goes on, and people with herpes can be happy, and you can be one of them.
Depression occurs because of anger that is stored up inside us.
It tends to get stored in our shoulder and chest muscles.
Doing these simple exercises will help loosen those muscles and release some of the anger.
First, while standing, extend your arms out to your sides and rotate them in forward circles, about 20 times, or until you start to really feel it.
Then,do the same in reverse.
Next, lay on your back on the floor, bend your knees until your feet are flat on the floor.
Then do something I am going to call "tricep pushups".
Do as many as you can, until you start to feel the burn.
Then, roll over and do some regular pushups, as many as you can.
Then, scream your anger into a pillow, as loud as you can.
Scream at the person who gave you herpes, and scream out any other anger as well.
Do all of this as many times as you can in a day, at least 2 times.
It works! Lastly, learn how to prevent outbreaks, so you are not bothered by them.
It is not difficult, and showing others how to be outbreak free is one of the main things I do.
It is possible to feel healthy with herpes and to be happy too! Steve
