Male Infertility Causes That Are Surprisingly Easy to Fix

When a couple is experiencing difficulties conceiving, much of the initial attention is placed on the origins of female infertility; so much so that it can be easy to forget that there are many male infertility causes also.
Ranging from fundamental health issues to environmental influences, men are obviously full contributors to the creation of a baby, and when something goes awry in the male partner infertility can ensue.
The question of whether the male partner is a contributing factor in the failure to conceive must be considered when a couple suspect infertility.
Environmental factors are among the most common of male infertility causes.
Fortunately, many can be (in theory) easily addressed.
Alcohol consumption, smoking, and various forms of drug and chemical exposure can affect the volume of sperm production and the health and motility of sperm.
Even as simple a factor such as intensive bicycle or horseback riding, or gym exercises intended to simulate these activities, can reduce male fertility.
Extensive pressure placed on the testes is a medically recognized cause of reduced sperm production in otherwise entirely healthy young men.
When considering methods by which to increase male fertility, a doctor will first assess the underlying causes of the inability to conceive.
When the basis is thought to be environmental then the first issue addressed will be the habits and behaviors that can result in reduced production of healthy sperm.
Patients can expect to have their diet, recreational drinking, and exercise habits assessed, and in many cases adjusted to address underlying problems affecting fertility.
Drinking and drugs, both prescription and recreational, will be major areas for consideration.
If a man is engaged in a long course of prescription medication it may be necessary to consult with his general caregiver to determine alternate medications, or to temporarily shift medical treatment to help increase male fertility.
Chronic alcoholism can vastly reduce the levels of sperm, and even short term periods of heavy alcohol use can reduce sperm production.
One of the ways a man can contribute to improved conception is to reduce or eliminate alcohol intake altogether.
Certainly exercise habits leading to hypogonadism, the reduced production of sperm by the testes, must be addressed.
While exercise is beneficial for the overall health of an individual, the pressure placed on the testes by riding equipment can be a contributing factor in male infertility.
By pursuing an alternate exercise during the time a couple wishes to conceive, a man can help increase the odds of conception.
By putting together a program reducing the environmental pressures providing potential problems a man can help increase his own contribution to conception.
Optimal environmental conditions lead to the highest possible level of healthy, mobile sperm.
Such simple techniques, taken together, can have a fundamental effect on male sperm production, and a potent effect on a man's overall fertility.
Even the healthiest of men can damage their own reproductive potential by failing to take basic environmental factors into account or by not treating their bodies with the greatest of care.
A regimen aimed at optimal health and wellbeing of the male partner can ensure that a couple will maximise the male partner's fertility, as well as increase their chances of conception.
