Sexually Transmitted Disease or commonly called as STD is an infection one can get through having sex with someone who is already infected with the illness. Such infections originate from bacteria, parasites, and viruses that go within the body through various sex forms such as vaginal, anal, and oral.

STD can infect anyone who has ever been sexually active, with both genders and sexual preferences. Moreover, the danger is higher to people who have multiple partners and people who engage in same sex intercourse. You can also get this when you have a partner who has multiple partners.

STD can take different forms with different symptoms to go with it. Once a person becomes sexually active, especially those who have multiple partners, he/she must be cautious about the common signs and symptoms of STD as it can infect the body unexpectedly.

What one may have is Chlamydia is one has abnormal discharges in the penis and the vagina. It is also accompanied with pain in the testicles or painful urination among men. Women, however, also suffer from pelvic organ inflammation.

Syphilis is also one form of STD. It is indicated by sores in the mouth or the genital region. Moreover, an infected person might also experience hair loss, headaches, weight loss, and swollen glands. This infection could be initially addressed with antibiotics but when failed to have an initial treatment, paralysis, gradual blindness dementia and death might occur in the last stage of Syphilis.

A yellowish or perhaps a bloody discharge from the penis or vagina and painful sexual activity are also signs of STD that comes in Gonorrhea form.

Yeast infection affects women through white milky discharge that has foul odor and itching.

Genital herpes that comes in two kinds is also one of the signs of STD. Some of its signs are cold sores and also fever blisters that appear in the mouth area. On the other hand, a serious outbreak causes painful blisters on the genital organs, buttocks or thighs.

Besides the symptoms presented above, other general signs and symptoms of STD are the following:

Having moderate or intense itching on the genital part, sores that are found in specific areas of the body that are in contact with an infected person's genital area, possible existence of mites and other parasites that infest the genital area; swelling or bumps that suddenly show up in the mouth or near the organs; fluids or pus in the bumps that are painful; pain in the abdominal area, specifically in the lower abdomen; unusual change of skin color; sudden appearance of many bruises, sore throat for those who have oral sex with a partner who suffers from STD; and others.

When you experience having these signs and symptoms, it is highly advised that you pay your doctor a visit for medical assistance. STD may be cured when detected early but it can develop into worse like the incurable AIDS when failed to be treated.

Still, prevention happens to be the best remedy for STDs. And this may be done by practicing abstinence, safe sex, monogamy, keeping away from oral sex and same sex intercourse, and others.
