Upper Lake Mary: Lake View Campground

    • On the north side of Upper Lake Mary is Lake View Campground, an ideal spot for visitors who wish to fish. Lake View Campground provides fishing reports on its website, listing the various species that live in the lake, as well as maps and other pertinent information. This site advertises itself as best for tent campers, though RVs are allowed. The 30 campsites at Lake View are open from May through early October and provide basic amenities, such as campfire rings, grills, picnic tables, toilets and boat ramps at the lake, but do not have shower facilities or utility hookups. As of 2011, the fee for a group of up to eight campers with no more than one vehicle is $16 per night.

    Upper Lake Mary: Pinegrove Campground

    • Pinegrove Campground, located in the Coconino National Forest and less than 20 miles south of Flagstaff, is another site perfect for nature lovers of all sorts. While Lake View is the site for anyone interested in water sports or boating, Pinegrove is better for visitors interested in hiking and wildlife watching. This site is known as a place where bald eagles winter and where many species of waterfowl pass through during their migratory journey, and it also has a feeding ground for local ospreys. Pinegrove has 46 campsites and, unlike Lake View, provides showers, and many sites are handicapped-accessible. The price for groups of up to eight with one vehicle is $18 per night.

    Lower Lake Mary

    • Canyon Vista Campground, a smaller site, is closer to Lower Lake Mary. Slightly further from the water but in the heart of the forest, Canyon Vista has only 11 campsites. Located just north of the campground area is Walnut Canyon, a place full of natural beauty and historical significance; visitors to Walnut Canyon can explore the cliff dwellings of the peoples who made their home there hundreds of years ago. Also just north of Canyon Vista is the Arizona Trail, an enormous trail that winds through multiple states in the region and is perfect for hiking and viewing the local scenery. Canyon Vista, much like Lake View, offers only basic amenities, like drinking water, picnic tables, grills and fire rings, and costs $16 per night as of 2011.

Lake Mary Country Store and Park

    • If you have a motor home or trailer, another camping option is the Lake Mary Country Store and Trailer Park. The store is one of the most popular supply stores in the area and one of the few located on Lake Mary Road (the main road off which many campgrounds are located). If you wish to participate in water sports but do not own your own boats and equipment, you can easily rent it here for a reasonable price. The trailer park allows a few visitors to stay here with an RV instead of with a tent, but it is less scenic than some of the other camping areas nearby.
