- 1). Open the safety screen and remove the snuffer. Set the snuffer aside; you won't need it for now.
- 2). Open the filler cap and fill the fuel tank with white gas. Replace the filler cap, and tip the heater in the direction of the filler to check for leaks.
- 3). Turn the Coleman heater upside down for 30 seconds to one minute, and watch for a wet spot about 1-inch diameter to appear in the center of the burner.
- 4). Turn the heater right side up. Light the fuel spot with a match. Close the safety screen, leaving the snuffer out.
- 5). Wait about 10 minutes for the Coleman heater to reach operating temperature. The burner will glow a faint red that can only be seen in the dark.
- 6). Open the safety screen and place the snuffer on the burner to extinguish the heater. Alternatively, just let it operate until it depletes the fuel.
