How to Replace Stucco on Brick

    • 1). Peel away any broken stucco material that has begun to separate from the brick wall, using first your fingers and then the paint scraper. Any stucco material that is salvageable will remain stuck to the wall, and will not easily scrape away.

    • 2). Clean the surface of the brick with the wire brush to remove any trace of mildew that may have formed and to scrub away traces of the old stucco material still left in the repair site.

    • 3). Combine the stucco mix with water in the mixing container until it is the consistency of peanut butter. Initially, the replacement stucco will appear much brighter than your existing stucco. This color differentiation will fade over time.

    • 4). Spread the stucco onto the brick wall into the recess left after removing the damaged or chipped-away stucco. Fill the recess until it is even with the surrounding stucco. Use a mason's trowel to smooth the stucco into the surrounding surfaces. Allow the stucco to cure for approximately 30 minutes before continuing.

    • 5). Use the same or similar texturing tool to match the repair with the original texture of the stucco. If the wall appears to have swirl marks, the tool used likely was a straw broom. If the wall has ridges and peaks, the tool might have been a piece of carpeting. A smooth surface likely was produced with a mason's trowel. Allow the stucco to completely cure after texture has been applied before touching the wall.
