Hen Night Theme Party Ideas

If you think one final wild night before a wedding is strictly for the boys, think again. Hen nights are women-only events designed to celebrate the bride's final day (or days) of unmarried life. Though no one expects the bride to act like a single woman, hen nights (or bachelorette parties) are opportunities for the women to enjoy their freedom with a little partying before the big day. - Bring out the bride's devilish side with a hen night theme that plays on the concepts of good and evil. Invite guests to attend in either good or evil attire. For example, more festive guests may craft elaborate angel or devil costumes while more subtle guests could wear T-shirts depicting cartoon versions of famous superheros or super villains. During the party, host a playful round of Truth or Dare in which all the "good girls" deliver challenges and all the "bad girls" perform various embarrassing tasks. Whether you are hosting a simple sleepover at home or heading out for a night on the town, arrange for dessert to be a selection of angel and devil's food cake or cupcakes for a delicious twist on the party theme.
- Even if the bride loves all things girly, a night away from the feminine frills of wedding planning is a welcome respite. Instruct guests to attend the party in drag: men's shirts, dress slacks, ties, men's gym clothes or sports uniforms. More adventurous party guests may even slick back their hair into tight pony tails and don fake mustaches. Organize a day of masculine activities. Play a round of golf (or miniature golf if your skills are rusty). Instead of a lingerie store, hit up a cigar shop. Top the night off with rounds of brandy instead of fruity cocktails.
- Marriage is considered a milestone in adult life; delay the grown-up part of marriage with a childhood-themed hen night that relives the joys of being a kid. Ask guests to attend in grown-up versions of their favorite childhood outfits; opt for one-piece jumpers, overalls, crinoline-lined skirts or shirts with classic logos or cartoon characters. Adorn the bride in classic princess gear: plastic crown, sparkly play lipstick and glitter gloss. Take the party to a classic roller skating rink and make sure all guests get in on the action during limbo contests or skating races. Go to a park and play rounds of classic gym class games such as kickball and dodgeball. Keep a steady supply of lollipops and juice boxes on hand. End the night with an old school dance party that features classic pop hits from the decade of your childhood.
