How to Be a Party Monster

    • 1). Explore all options. A true Party Monster can have a great time any place, anytime, with anyone. Just because you've never been to a club before or don't know a party host very well, don't let that stop you! You never know---if you branch out, you just might find the best undiscovered party spot in town, all while making great memories and friends. If you go in with a good attitude, you should come out having had a good time. No one likes a mean monster, so keep your spirits high and let your friendliness radiate!

    • 2). It's best to keep a large social network to hear more opportunities for party locations. On the other hand, it's also good to have a group of close friends---a wing man or wing woman, if you will. This will give you a go-to buddy if the party hasn't gotten up to speed yet, as well as the chance to meet new people through them. Keep your options open for your party pal too, as everyone may not be prepared to celebrate like you; rotation is key. In short, never turn down an invitation! Not only will a real Party Monster have an event every day, she might not be able to fit it all into her busy schedule. Try to at least make an appearance at every soiree; they'll be wanting you to bring the fun.

    • 3). Always go in to your party and surroundings with an open mind. Don't rely entirely on first impressions---you never know where you'll find a fellow Party Monster. This being said, prepare for the shindigs appropriately: if it's a club, don't be afraid to look snazzy; if it's a house party, keep it on the casual side; and of course, if water festivities are involved, you know the drill. And since you'll be looking your best, your confidence will be high, thus drawing more people toward you!

    • 4). Socialize---let that Party Monster out! Don't feel like you need to be the center of the party . . . in fact, that can be obnoxious, so don't overdo it. Let your presence be known---thank the host if necessary, make friends with the bartenders, maybe buy those fellow Party Monsters a cocktail, hit the dance floor and just let your hair down. Keep in mind that your title does give you a license to party, but don't get too out-of-hand, otherwise you'll only make the guest list for some good entertainment and embarrassing laughs. Don't feel obligated to drink, and, if you choose to throw back a few, don't let those nasty hangovers get in your way---a Party Monster's schedule is too busy to be slowed down by a headache.

    • 5). Once you've become well-versed in the party world, give back to your community. You know what works, what other fun-seekers like. So come up with the craziest theme, loudest music and tastiest drinks, and gather some wild folks to spread a little of that Party Monster love---after all, you should know best!
